It&#039;s easy enough to be cavalier and say, &quot;People shouldn&#039;t use IE, and if they do, --- &#039;em. They can upgrade, or they can see a site that doesn&#039;t look as good.&quot;

But in the real world, clients expect backwards compatibility...especially those still using IE6 and 7.

1. For item #8, it&#039;s usually easier these days to start with your styles in a separate file, because you can generally get a split view in your editor of choice with the css file in one pane and the markup in the editor (and a browser waiting to refresh in the other monitor).

2. Don&#039;t overuse the div tag. Just because it has no default visual appearance doesn&#039;t mean it has no default meaning in a document.  Use it to create appropriate logical sections(division), and only elsewhere when absolutely needed.</description>
